Domaine des Crès Ricards was established in the early 1960s and covers an area of 28 hectares. It is located approximately 35 km West of Montpellier, near the towns of Saint André de Sangonis and Clermont l’Hérault, on the outskirts of the village of Ceyras. It is in the heart of the Coteaux du Languedoc appellation, in the Terrasses du Larzac sub-region.
The vineyard is situated at an altitude of 60 metres at a place known as Les Crès Ricards.

84% Syrah, 16% Grenache
Limestone and clay, with pebbly soils on steep, terraced vineyards. Distinctive red soils indicative of significant iron oxide deposits. Oenothera is from individual parcels of 30 year old vines of Syrah (producing 35 hl/ha) and 43 year old vines of Grenache (producing 37 hl/ha). Partly traditional maceration for 16 and 22 days with daily delestage (rack and return) or pumping over. Partly whole-grape carbonic maceration for 17 days. Maturation of 12 months in new oak casks
A deep ruby color.
A complex bouquet of spices (peppercorns and cinnamon), tobacco, mocha and stewed blackcurrants.
On the palate it is full-bodied, velvety, toasted and fruity (blackcurrant backed up by black cherry), with a particularly licorice finish.
